My Three Eyed Girl

Lucky for us we have only had to go to the Emergency Room for our children twice. That's two times in the eight years that we have had children. Unfortunately, the two times we have had to take a child to the ER it's been our youngest and both times they have been doozies.

Yesterday while the kids were horsing around in the living room Elizabeth tripped over her brother's foot. She fell hitting her head on a nearby chair. Below is the result of the hit...
I called Matt to let him know that I was on my way to the ER with the kids. He left work and made it from Nashville to Murfreesboro in 30 minutes, a drive that normally takes 45 to an hour. By the time we got to the ER Elizabeth was as calm as she could be. We were taken back immediately once they saw the gaping hole in her forehead. She would smile and talk with the doctors and nurses and was her pretty normal self. That was until the Resident Doctor decided to try to clean and stitch her up. I guess because she was being so calm and good he thought that he would be able to do it without the help of a nurse ans without any sedation. Boy was he wrong. She wouldn't let him near her after his initial attempt. I even had to hold her in the Bear hug so that they could put in the IV they would need to give her the sedative. It took all three of us. She also had a CT Scan which was normal, thank goodness! Anyway, this is her after she got home last night. I haven't taken any better pictures yet but will post those later.
She had nightmares last night so Matt slept with her. She was her normal self today. I am just so worried that she's going to hit her head and bust those stitches! The only complaint is the pain and that's not too often either. Now we just have to keep it clean and dry for the next 10 days. So sorry baby, No swimming for at least 2 weeks.

OH MY GOSH! I was expecting a bump on her forehead when I read the title! That is really scary! I'm glad she's okay! Poor thing. I hope she recovers quickly and no more pain or complications from it :( Take care...will we still be seeing you tomorrow? Guess you have to take it one minute at a time right now!

The photo pained me when Matt posted it on facebook. Sadly, Seth made a three eye comment- even before Matt doctor'd the picture to include the third eye. Those husbands of ours!

Anyway... your little girl is such a tough cookie! I love that last picture. She sure has personality, doesn't she?

Carrie- I am still planning on coming tomorrow. Elizabeth doesn't seem any worse so I don't see any reason to stay home. I am sure Matt can take care of things here.

JA- Unfortunately, I was telling Matt while still at the hospital how much it looked like an eye socket. The doctors and nurses must have thought I was nuts. She is such a trooper. I was so amazed at how good she was throughout the whole thing. I have to say I just love that forced grin.
