Birthday may change

I received a call from my OB's office telling me the time of my c section. It was to be on December 19th at 1:00. Half an hour later they called again to change both the date and time of the birth. They are wanting to change it to the 21st instead. 4 months ago we talked to the doctor about not doing it on that date because it is so close to Christmas and I didn't want to be in the hospital at Christmas with two kids at home. I talked to the nurse who called and told her that I had already purchased plane tickets for both my parents and that is was very inconvient. She said whe would talk to the doctor and see what she could do. I got a call again later telling me that they were going to try and change it to 11:00 on the 19th but if that did not work then it would have to be on the 21st. She said that they already had appointments scheduled for that afternoon on the 19th. Matt is ready to fight for this, I want him to but at the same time I'm scared to rock the boat too much.

Update: They managed to change it to 11:00 on the 19th. I am very happy about it and so is Matt. So our plans have not been changed and we worried for nothing.

Quiet Weekend

Despite my family being gone and me staying up until 12:00 I was still up at 6:00 this morning with no hope of goning back to sleep. Maybe it's because it is so quiet that it kept me up. But I have been able to accomplish a lot so far this weekend. I decorated the front of the house and the hallway. Last weekend I go the tree up in the playroom and the kids' tree in the kitchen. Now all I have left to do it to put up my snow people, if I can find the box they are in, and my snow village. I also have plans to get all of my presents wrapped and assess everything to make sure I have enough stuffers for everyone and didn't forget anyone. So far it's been a pretty productive weekend. I'll have to post pictures after Matt and the kids get home tomorrow since they have the camera.

Thanksgiving

Yesterday we had a very relaxing Thanksgiving dinner. We started out the day with a large breakfast and lounged around in pjs until about noon. We took baths and then everyone including the cats took a nap, we hadn't even had our turkey yet. After nap time I finished up the sides for our dinner and got the pumpkin pie in the oven. At 5:30 we at our dinner and then played with the kids. Later we had popcorn and a movie and then bedtime. It was a nice day and one I really enjoyed.

Today, Matt and the kids have taken off for Knoxville to visit Matt's family and for Matt and his Dad to attend the UT Kentucky football game. I will be here holding down the fort and getting caught up on everything. My biggest plan is to have all the presents wrapped when the kids and Matt get home on Sunday. Wrapping will also help me to assess if I have forgotten anyone or anything. I also plan on getting caught up on all the house work I have been putting off. Then maybe I won't have as much to do between now and when the baby is born.

The Kids' Interests

Abby loves her babies. She puts them to bed, dresses them and feeds them. She would love more but we already have enough to start an orphanage. Abby has also begun the dressing up phase. She has a couple of fairy outfits and ballerina leotards with skirts, which she wears almost daily. Much to Matt's chagrin she enjoys make-up as well. I let her put on Chap Stick in the mornings while I am doing my make-up and let her play with the brushes. She also loves shoes! (She's a girl what can I say.) She has one pair of dress up shoes, but would love to have more. Sometimes she enjoys dressing up with play jewelry, crowns and wands.

Gabriel is all boy. He enjoys pretending with his Buzz Lightyear action figures and what few army men we have left. He has gotten into Power Rangers and guns much to our dismay, it's the influence from friends at school that has done it. Next time you see him he will probably be making gun noises or talking your ear off, for he is never quiet. Though he is a loving and truly a good kid. He really enjoys playing with the few Playmobile he has and has asked for more. He also still enjoys his match box cars and he could really use a case to hold them all. He enjoys dressing up as well and we bought him several costumes on clearance after Halloween.

Elizabeth we don't know yet. We know she is a girl, at least according to the ultrasounds. I don't see, as there is much she will need except lots of diapers and wipes. She may enjoy having some clothes that are not handed down. But other than that there not much to say.

Christmas Cards

I've been debating on our Christmas cards this year. Since we will be having a new addition to the family I am debating on wether or not to hold off and get a good picture with the new addition or to go ahead and get pictures with Gabe and Abby and then send a birth announcement later with a picture. I just want to make sure whatever I do it's not done too late. Anyone have any suggestions for me? I also can't decide what would be easier.

Abby's Flu Shot

A couple of weeks ago Matt got his flu shot. His arm swelled where the shot was administered but nothing major.

Today I took Abby in for her flu shot, I would have taken Gabriel in as well but they are waiting for the dosage he needs. She was jovial walking into the room and the nurse said I hope she is still that way when she leaves. My thoughts were the same. I lifted Abby onto the table, pulled down her tights, and held her arms while leaning over her to give her kisses and reassurance. She teared up and whined when the shot entered her leg and then looks at me and said, "That hurt, Mommy." and then she was fine. I wish it would be that easy for Gabriel. I think I'm going to schedule it so that Matt can take him, he needs to experience the trauma just like me.

This Weekend Is Tree Decorating

This weekend we are going to put up the tree, it's a good thing it's fake. Yes, I know it's a little early yet but with Matt and the kids leaving the day after Thanksgiving I thought it would be a good idea to get it done while they are here. Gabriel is soooo excited to be putting up the tree. I asked him if he wanted to help or if he wanted me to do it. He said he wanted to help and that Abby and Daddy needed to help too. Matt is none to happy about this plan. He was pretty excited with knowledge that he would not be here for the decorating, the original plan was to bring the boxes upstairs and he would take them back down when he got home. But I felt that the kids should be able to participate if they wanted. And since we aren't having any company for Thanksgiving I didn't see any reason not to get a head start. I like this plan much better. I will have some help and I will be sure not to over do it since I can take my time. Matt will deal and he will have some fun in the process too. Even though he will gripe the whole time. The one year I did the tree by myself he was very upset that he didn't have a part in it, though he denies that every year when I bring it up.

Wonder Pet Reenactment

Last year my parents' bought Abby a barn filled with stuffed farm animals, mothers and babies. Tonight Abby pulled the barn out of her closet and started playing with them. At first she was matching the moms and the babies together and naming them and their respective sounds then she started pretending with them. She put the baby cow on the cross arm of the chair and exclaimed that the baby cow was stuck in a tree. Then she said we have to rescue it and proceeded to rescue the baby cow. It was very cute. It also happened to be the episode of Wonder Pets that was on this afternoon after nap.

Gabe's Picture

The people in the picture are Gabriel, Matt and me. Do you see the big belly with the baby? If you couldn't figure it out that's me with a big belly for the baby to grow. He said that the green circles are snow flakes.

Gabe Says

Tonight at dinner:

Gabriel: "Mom, I love you. I love daddy. I love you and daddy only."

Mom: "Thanks Gabriel. We love you too. Do you love Abby?"

Gabriel: "No, not much. Only when she is nice to me."
